Brief History

Lusi Namatovu Foundation was founded in 2016 by Samuel Ssebandeke after a visit from UK to his old auntie Christina Namazzi whom he found in a very sorry state due to neglect from family members. He then realized there must be other old people out there facing the same problem. Indeed the need is overwhelming. In many African Countries an individual is not entitled to government assistance after retirement unless they have worked for the government. Lusi namatovu foundation assists elders in need of shelter, medication, food, clothing and day to day necessities.

In 2017, the foundation was registered as a Community Based Organization in memory of our late mother Lusi Namatovu and we are here to work hand in hand with the government and everyone in the community to improve the lives of our senior citizens. A loving team led by our Executive Director has been on the ground going around providing vulnerable people with food, shelter, clothing, medical care and to give them a chance to live longer and in an environment where no one sees them as neglected. As we age, we often face additional needs and challenges connected to getting older. If an elderly person has reached a point where he/she needs assistance with daily routine and no family can assist, our foundation comes in here to give them the opportunity to live in dignity and to feel loved and cared for.
